Download Office 2010 to use with Office 365

Right, your question will be: Why would you want to download Office 2010 to use with Office 365 and not Office 2013? For what reason would you rather use the old version? If you came across this request from a customer you will notice that there is no option to download any previous versions of Microsoft Office from the Microsoft Online Portal.

Here are some reasons you would rather want Office 2010 instead of Office 2013:

1.    Your customer has a third party software that integrate with Office 2010 and is not compatible with Office 2013.
2.    Your customer still has Windows Vista and Office 2013 does not work on Windows Vista.
3.    Some older generation customer that doesn’t like change. (HAHA I’m serious!)

Outlook 2010 not opening hyperlinks after uninstalling Google Crome

If there is one thing that is part of my almost daily IT support work is to uninstall unwanted toolbars and software that installs together with other software. I will ask the client – what are you doing with all these toolbars that is installed and showing up in Internet Explorer? Their normal answer is, I don’t even know how they got there and I don’t know what they do. The likes of Google Toolbar, Ask Toolbar, Yahoo Toolbar and Babylon Toolbar are all culprits that are installed together with other software. Luckily the toolbars are easy to uninstall.

One of the other culprits is Google Crome. What irritates me more about Google Crome is that it installs together with other software and then makes itself your default internet browser. Then almost every time you uninstall Google Crome you will find that your Outlook 2010 not opening hyperlinks anymore. With other words, if you receive an email with a hyperlink to a website and you click on it, nothing happens or you get an error saying “This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.”

When printing an email it prints the attachments too

I’ve had this the other day. A client phone and say that when she print an email, it prints the attachments too. What she means is that she only wants the Message Body to print and not the attachments, but when she hits print, it prints the message body as well as the attachments. Now this can be very annoying, especially if the attachment is 30 pages and you only want to print the one page message body.

So here is the solution:

In Outlook 2010.

Click on FILE -> PRINT

Click on PRINT OPTIONS

Right at the bottom of the screen there is an option “Print attached files. Attachments will print to the default printer only”

Uncheck this option and DONE…
